In the current issue of the journal “Econometrics Ekonometria. Advances in Applied Data Analysis”, six articles are published. Jan L. Bednarczyk and Katarzyna Brzozowska- Rup discuss the Non-Decreasing Economic Growth Rate of Inflation (NDEGRI). They present the results of estimating economic growth depending on the inflation levels in selected countries. The paper by Anna Jańska, and Arleta Kędra concerns the factors determining purchases of insurance products. They analyzed potential relations between determinants of purchasing decisions regarding insurance products and socio-demographic variables, i.e. age, gender, place of residence, income, occupational status, and number of people in a household. The use of fuzzy logic in the corporate innovative potential assessment is the subject of the article by Tomasz Nawrocki. The model proposed in the article provides a framework for combined static and dynamic potential innovativeness assessment with the use of fuzzy logic. The next author, Michał Litwiński, studies the influence of income inequalities on socio-economic development in the European Union. The author attempts to verify the hypothesis that the character of the impact of income inequalities on socioeconomic development in the European Union is negative. In the paper by Ilona Błaszczak-Przybycińska and Marta Marszałek, the calculations of the household production satellite account for Poland are presented, the methodology remarks and results are given. The last article, by Beata Bieszk-Stolorz, shows the results of using the modified Lunn-McNeil model in the assessment of intensity of exiting from unemployment. The research made it possible to identify groups of people taking up work with the least intensity and refusing to take up work with the greatest intensity.

This volume is dedicated to the International PhD Program “Searching for Identity: Global Challenges, Local Traditions,” organized at the Faculty of “Artes Liberales” of the University of Warsaw, in 2013–2018. The volume aims at showing identity as a processual concept, using the example of the researcher as a living personality. It thus corresponds with the general trend in the humanities and social sciences to pay attention to the researcher and the ways his or her personal background and experience influence the generation of knowledge. By introducing this topic, we would like to show completing a PhD, or any other research, as a dynamic process with a personal history of success and failure, as well as to demonstrate the impact of the “Searching for Identity” project.

This e-book aims to present the most critical aspects of knowledge about using experiments in economics and practical tools for using them. The topic is extended to the more advanced and increasing in popularity area of biometric research. The book is divided into three parts mirroring experimentation. The first part provides theoretical background and tips about organising own research. The chapter is concluded with a guide focused on writing a research report in APA style. This part includes an example of the actual research report. The next part has two chapters, and both are guided tours allowing to plan and conduct eye-tracking research and electrodermal activity research (EDA). The chapters contain details about preparing experiments, conducting them, using the dedicated software to analyse collected data and interpreting the default charts. The last part is devoted to the data analysis and is universal, goes beyond the biometric experiments. There are three chapters in this part covering the standard procedures used in the analysis of experiments. The first part includes tests for one hypothesis: parametric t-test and One-Way ANOVA and non-parametric siblings: Mann Whitney U test and Kruskal-Wallis test. The next part describes tests allowing testing more hypotheses: ANOVA without repetition and ANOVA with repetitions. Furthermore, the last chapter deals with dependent samples, which are a popular approach in experiments. This part describes the dependent sample t-test and Wilcoxon test. The effect sizes calculations are included; each test is shown with screenshots from SPSS and some additional screenshots from Excel. This approach allows following the procedure step by step. The examples help easily understand procedures and interpretations; they were chosen from areas of sustainability and innovations to match the general idea of the e-books series prepared within the CENETSIE program. The book contains texts that can be useful in the teaching process. It can be helpful in graduate programs in economics and business schools. Programs of doctoral schools cab benefit from this book as well.

With the publication of the current issue of the journal Econometrics Ekonometria. Advances in Applied Data Analysis, we present four articles. Kirsi Purhonen, Marja- -Leena Kauronen, Olli Lehtonen, Angelika Polak and Valdemar Kallunki describe the results of visual research methods (VRM) for recognising the social identities and behaviour of non-smokers and smokers. VRM provide precise results regarding the phenomenon and offer a sympathetic, considerate and suitable way to examine it. The paper by Yeong Nain Chi and Orson Chi concerns the modelling and forecasting of the monthly global price of bananas. The primary purpose of this study was to pursue the analysis of the time series data and to demonstrate the role of the time series model in the predicting process using long-term records of the monthly global price of bananas. The study of the equilibrium short-rate models and no-arbitrage models is the subject of the paper by Dushko Josheski and Mico Apostolov, in which equilibrium short-rate models were presented as one-factor short-rate models, the Cox-Ingersoll-Ross (CIR) model and the Vasicek model, and no-arbitrage models were the Hull-White (HW) model, the Binomial lattice model for bond pricing and interest rate modelling, the Black-Karasinski (BK) model, and the Heath-Jarrow- -Morton (HJM) model. In this issue Anna Sulima describes the absence of arbitrage on the complete Black-Scholes-Merton regime-switching Lévy market. In the considered model, the prices of financial assets were described by the Lévy process in which the coefficients depend on the states of the Markov chain. Such a market is incomplete, and in order to complete it, jump financial instruments and power-jump assets were added.

We would like to offer you a publication covering the problems of local and regional growth, in terms of both theoretical and practical aspects, and also discussing Polish and international issues. This publication is dedicated to a wide range of readers: research workers, students of economics and spatial management, and also to employees and councillors working for local governments. Regional development represents a multidimensional process, characterized by positive changes occurring in many areas of economy and society as well as in institutions and environment, which frequently remain of spatial nature. The ultitude of problems covered by regional growth is reflected in the number of topics discussed in the present publication. Regional growth issues are discussed in the context of their relations with knowledge, innovations, human and social capital and also with reference to the regional system of knowledge transfer as an important element of a regional innovation system, affecting its efficiency and ability to meet the equirements of the modern knowledge-based economy. The problems discussed in the publication often cover issues related to labor market and mainly to the situation of young people. In this area the analysis and the rating of strategic documents from selected regions are presented as well as the statistical analysis results based on a model which defines key factors determining the regional labor market situation of young people and which reveals impacts resulting from these factors. The presented soft model has a practical application in monitoring the labor market situation of young people in Polish regions.

The aim of this e-book is to present the most important aspects related to sustainability, corporate social responsibility and innovation from an accounting perspective. The book contains parts that deal with accounting aspects of sustainability and innovations. The book consists of ten chapters devoted to relevant and topical issues of sustainability and innovations. Chapter 1 Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility in Accounting is an introduction to further considerations and deals with the essence of sustainable development, corporate social responsibility and their recognition in accounting. Chapter 2 Social Responsibility Reporting Standards presents the most important reporting guidance such as GRI, OECD, United Nations Global Compact, International Organization for Standardization. Chapter 3 Narrative reporting focuses on descriptions and explanations in accounting reports. The chapter presents the links between accounting and language, the development of accounting narratives and the factors determining the use of narratives. Chapter 4 Integrated reporting discusses the motivations, objectives and the process of preparing an integrated report. Integrated reporting can prove to be an effective tool for businesses looking to shift their reporting focus from annual financial performance to long-term shareholder value creation. Chapter 5 Non-financial reporting in selected European countries presents the experience of Croatia, the Czech Republic and Poland in the field of preparing non-financial reports. A significant contribution to promoting the importance of sustainability reporting was made by the Non-Financial Reporting Directive (2014/95/EU). Chapter 6, Socially Responsible Investments discusses the essence of socially responsible investing and socially responsible investment. Socially responsible investing (SRI) is a decision making process concerning the allocation of free financial resources, where the investor aims at maximization of profit and minimization of risk on one part and includes the socio-ethical and environmental-ecological considerations on the other. Chapter 7 External costs – accounting perspective describes costs connected with using goods such as air, soil, water, silence or the aesthetics of the surroundings. One of the biggest problems for accounting in the future will be measuring the volume of using these goods or measuring the size of reduction in the quality of public goods suffered and assigning the decrease to particular companies. Chapter 8 Derivatives in accounting is devoted to financial instruments and presents two different approaches to accounting of derivatives: general model and hedge accounting. Derivatives are used to protect the enterprise against financial risk related to changes in prices on the markets, changes in the exchange rate or changes in interest rates, as well as for commercial purposes. Chapter 9 Costs of Research and Development shows the company's activity in the field of research and development and the related costs. R&D constitute an increasingly important element of the functioning of enterprises. Chapter 10 Cryptoassets – Nature, Valuation and Disclosures in Accounting focuses on cryptocurrencies (e.g. Bitcoin, Ethereum etc.) and digital tokens which are specific rights or values representatives. As a result of the transformation on the financial market, we are currently dealing with cryptoassets, which are a creation of blockchain technologies and the changing habits of the digital society. One of areas that there are a lot of doubts regarding these new technological solutions is accounting.

This issue of Sociological Review commemorates the 25th anniversary of the adoption by the UN General Assembly of The Convention on the Rights of the Child on November 20, 1989. It should be recalled that the beginnings of children’s studies and the sociology of childhood coincided in time with the introduction of this treaty, which established international standards for children’s protection and development. The Convention aims at safeguarding the youngest society members from different forms of abuse, exploitation and violence, as well as at promoting their rights to a decent standard of living and to broad social participation. The authors of the articles presented herein, representing the current sociological attitude towards children and youth, follow these assumptions. The articles thus mirror some important attributes of contemporary children’s studies – its cognitive multidimensionality, differentiated quantitative and qualitative methodologies, the shift from “research on children” to “research with children”, scholars’ interest in the results of comparative studies (especially the results of natural sciences), and the concern about the practical implementation of research outcomes. The main topics tackled in this collection of texts are children’s poverty and social inequalities rooted in the first phase of their life cycle, suffering and various risks experienced by children and teenagers, framed in both the national and international contexts, as well as children’s quality of life, youngsters’ well-being, youth participation, civic engagement and the new concept of investing in children. Children, considered as equal social actors and citizens – although still most vulnerable to abuse, discrimination and social exclusion – are presented in the framework of their complicated networks of relationships with peers, adults, collectivities and societies, the welfare state, social policy institutions and other organizations, with the notion to important factors decisive for their present life and their future.
