Internationalisation is an important process currently observed in the contemporary global economy. It consists in creating and developing diverse forms of cross-border ties between enterprises and foreign direct investment is an example of these. Multinational enterprises are looking for optimal locations in almost all (politically and economically safe) countries and regions across the globe. Most governments actively compete for investors by offering different incentive schemes, such as, inter alia, fiscal, financial, regulatory, and technical and information instruments and measures. The primary research goal of the study is to assess the importance of incentives offered to foreign direct investors by the evaluation of their effects understood in this case as investor reaction to such incentives. Hence, the process is seen from the investor perspective. The first part of the monograph is devoted to theoretical aspects of assisting foreign investors. The second part, which is empirical, discusses studies conducted to assess the relevance of incentives from the point of view of the host country economy. The publication is addressed mainly to economists and representatives of international business. It may also be of interest to people engaged in business operations in international contexts: managers, experts, representatives of public administration. The monograph should also be recommended as an excellent supplementary reading for students of all university courses connected with the internationalisation of enterprises. '

The paper presents the results of research on the evaluation of Non-Financial Statements (Reports), drafted pursuant to the SIN standard (the Polish Non-Financial Information Standard) by a hypothetical investor. The research question was defined of whether the Non-Financial Statements (Reports), which — according to the declarations of the listed companies — are drafted in concordance with the SIN standard, fulfil the requirements set forth by the standard, and thus provide useful non-financial information for the interested parties. The research covered all reports fulfilling the indicated criterion, i.e. 20 listed companies. In the majority of cases, the research results indicate that there are considerable deviations from the SIN standard guidelines. There were five heterogeneity levels in the approach to the SIN standard. In order to carry out the goal, content analysis, descriptive and comparative analysis, as well as the induction method were employed.

In this issue of the journal Econometrics Ekonometria. Advances in Applied Data Analysis, five articles are published. Dimitrios Vagianos and Nikos Koutsoupias describes the opportunities for framing coworking spaces marketing strategies via social media indices. The authors try to provide Digital Marketers with an alternative perspective of Social Media Marketing Strategies related to the innovative Coworking Spaces Business. In the next article by Marcin Salamaga, the correspondence analysis was used in the study of foreign divestment in the Visegrad Countries during the Coronavirus crisis. The author pointed out that the deterioration of the general investment atmosphere, economic recession, changes in consumption patterns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic have forced various foreign investors to restrict or suspend investments in industries which are more sensitive to the effects of the pandemic. For these reasons the reassessment of investment risk was necessary. The aim of the study described in the article by Paweł Kaczmarczyk is to test the effectiveness of an econometric model with dichotomous (binary) explanatory variables in the approximation and prediction of different kinds of cyclicality (annual, monthly, weekly, and daily) of demand for telephone services. The next article, by Angelika Kantor, concerns multidimensional analysis of the green growth of the European Union countries in 2019. For this purpose, secondary data were used and the non-pattern model together with Hellwig and Ward methods were implemented. Empirical analysis of the environmental Kuznets curve for economic growth and CO2 emissions in north Africa countries is the subject of the article by Mohammed Touitou. To prove these relations a panel cointegration approach was used and the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method was applied.

This textbook contains materials for several courses which are taught in the Master’s Programme in Financial Engineering that is run at the Poznań University of Economics and Business. The book consists of seven chapters that cover the main areas of quantitative finance: investment, financial instruments pricing, financial risk measuring and management as well as corporate finance. The main part of the book is devoted to the mathematical models used in the field of finance. There are four chapters devoted to the pricing of financial instruments: from pricing equities using Capital Asset Pricing Model, through derivative instruments on equites, to more complicated derivatives on interest rates. The last topic is illustrated with some genuine examples from the markets in the post-crisis period. One chapter describes basic models and concepts used in measuring financial risk. Two other chapters are about investment. One describes the way in which companies finance their activities. The second one describes investment strategies of hedge funds. All chapters contain exercises and examples from the real markets. In order to understand the topics from the textbook, some prerequisites are required. It is assumed that a potential reader knows the basics of probability theory, linear algebra and calculus. The knowledge of econometrics and statistical methods used in economics will also be useful in better comprehension of the book. It is our great pleasure to deliver another volume of Research Papers on Asia-Pacific economic issues. Each year we present you multiple points of view on that topic, trying to show how much the processes in Asia & Pacific affect the world economy. After nine years of hosting international scientific conference dealing with that region’s affairs, we are still confident that these issues are important not only for the countries of the region, but also for economies worldwide. This year we have chosen for you 15 articles. All of them where submitted for this year’s conference entitled “Asian Economies in the Context of Globalization”. Seeing that some authors describe the issues of countrywide importance and others of those having regional or global meaning, we have decided to group them according to the criterion of impact range. The first chapter – Asian Economies in the Global Context – is a collection of papers on general regionalization or globalization issues. T. Sporek is trying to refresh the view of the globalization processes occurring at the crossroads of economy and politics. M. Bartosik-Purgat is analyzing sources of information about products and services in the light of cross-cultural research. E. Majchrowska is using Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership case to show the importance of mega-regional blocks in global trade. In addition, we decided to add to this part the articles the subject of which is not so general, but it applies to trade relationships of a global nature. This will be the EU-India trade and investment agreement (G. Mazur), Poland-ASEAN agri-food products trade (K. Kita) or anti-dumping procedures against China under WTO rules (J. Skrzypczyńska). Articles in the second chapter are – as the title implies – embedded in a regional context. P. Pasierbiak deals with trade regionalization in East Asia. S. Bobowski offers an insight into ASEAN-Japan Economic Partnership. A. Kuropka and A.H. Jankowiak analyse the impact of natural disasters on production networks in the region. As the last in this section we have placed the article about Singaporean Competitiveness Model applied in European economies (M. Żmuda). It may be not strictly connected with Asia & Pacific, but its concept is to transfer Asian experience to Europe at the regional level. The last chapter – Asian Economies in the Local Context – is mostly about domestic matters of Asian countries. You will find there three articles about China (J. Bogołębska writing about Chinese monetary policy, A. Klimek describing cross-border mergers and acquisitions by Chinese state-controlled enterprises, S. Stępień and A. Sapa showing Chinese pork sector), one about Indonesia (Development of Islamic banking in Indonesia by I. Sobol) and one about North Korea (M. Kightley applying game theory in prediction of political changes in that state). We think it is an interesting set of papers you will find valuable in your studies. We also hope that your scientific interests will continue to be associated with Asia and that is why we invite you to the 10th anniversary conference which will be held at the Wrocław University of Economics in November 2017. We appreciate your time and consideration, as also time and effort of our peer reviewers. We look forward to the further submissions of interesting papers on Asia & Pacific. Thank you! Bogusława Drelich-Skulska, Anna H. Jankowiak, Szymon Mazurek

Toward the „new normal” after Covid-19 – a post-transition economy perspective contains a collection of 21 papers addressing the societal, political, economic, and managerial challenges of the post-pandemic world. The book is divided into three parts. Part one touches on the supranational and national level aspects of the Covid-19 pandemic. Part two focuses on business sectors and industries, whereas part three provides the perspective of companies. Authors – researchers from the Poznań University of Economics and Business, Institute of International Business and Economics – share their research results, voice concerns, and offer recommendations on creating today’s world more immune to shocks and ready for unknowns. The pandemic of Covid-19 revealed many weaknesses of the global economy, national economies and states, business sectors, and individual companies. It’s undoubtedly the turning point, but simultaneously it’s an opportunity and a spur to change toward the new and sustainable normal.

This issue of Sociological Review commemorates the 25th anniversary of the adoption by the UN General Assembly of The Convention on the Rights of the Child on November 20, 1989. It should be recalled that the beginnings of children’s studies and the sociology of childhood coincided in time with the introduction of this treaty, which established international standards for children’s protection and development. The Convention aims at safeguarding the youngest society members from different forms of abuse, exploitation and violence, as well as at promoting their rights to a decent standard of living and to broad social participation. The authors of the articles presented herein, representing the current sociological attitude towards children and youth, follow these assumptions. The articles thus mirror some important attributes of contemporary children’s studies – its cognitive multidimensionality, differentiated quantitative and qualitative methodologies, the shift from “research on children” to “research with children”, scholars’ interest in the results of comparative studies (especially the results of natural sciences), and the concern about the practical implementation of research outcomes. The main topics tackled in this collection of texts are children’s poverty and social inequalities rooted in the first phase of their life cycle, suffering and various risks experienced by children and teenagers, framed in both the national and international contexts, as well as children’s quality of life, youngsters’ well-being, youth participation, civic engagement and the new concept of investing in children. Children, considered as equal social actors and citizens – although still most vulnerable to abuse, discrimination and social exclusion – are presented in the framework of their complicated networks of relationships with peers, adults, collectivities and societies, the welfare state, social policy institutions and other organizations, with the notion to important factors decisive for their present life and their future.
